News: Wrapping up 2010 Current Events

The following is a recap, the year in review if you will, to give God all the glory for 2010.

Missions: We saw the beginning of the year send Adam Angelovich to Newcastle Upon Tyne, England to work with young people from the Calvary Chapel located there.  Our little fellowship, in addition to many out of state loved ones to Adam, were able to raise the entire amount to see him fly out, stay there for 3 months paying for room and board and return him to us safely.  All in all it was a great exercise in faith not only for Adam, but for us all.

Youth: Shine, our service dedicated entirely to youth on Sunday nights, has continued to flourish and thrive as weekly we see an average of 30 teens gather for worship, Bible Study and fellowship.  Mid-summer we were able to take 32 folks from the church (many of them Shine kids) to Heavenfest, a Christian concert in northern Colorado which drew some 30,000 people!  It was an amazing weekend of camping, eating and enjoying incredible Christian music from 70 different artists on 7 different stages.

Amphitheater: This summer we also built our outside amphitheater behind the church.  I was blessed to see so many men come out to help build an area for us to enjoy our Sunday morning services outside all summer. BBQs, volleyball after service, fireside Bible studies around the fire pit; it made a great addition to the amazing times we experience together as a body of believers.

Thanksgiving Baskets: With the coming of fall, we were able to again provide Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need within our community.  What a tremendous blessing it is to practically become the hands and feet of Jesus as we live the truth, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  We were able to meet the needs of 16 families in our community, giving them turkeys and all the fixings for a great Thanksgiving day meal.

Project Angeltree: Finally, we closed out the year with our annual participation in Project Angeltree, giving gifts to children in Star Valley that would not otherwise receive anything for Christmas.  We as a church were able to sponsor 13 children, shopping, wrapping and giving gifts that made Christmas all the more incredible for each one.
